Hi. My question is rather urgent.

I work for a company involved that's on the verge of being sold. Negotiations have been going on over for a year now. The transaction is nearly final. The current owner has shared a tremendous amount of information about the company with me; some things I wish I didn't know right now and one thing in particular.

I have also been interviewed by the intended buyer of our company. He is a Chrisitan and has a young family. I have talked with him enough to know he is concerned about buying our company and the uncertainty of revenue for the future.

The "one thing in particular" I wish I didn't know right now impacts the company's profit. To simplify, workers compensation insurance is paid by a company based on how the positions are coded or titled. I have been told by my boss that if he coded them correctly, he couldn't afford to run the business. As a Christian myself, I am struggling as to whether or not I should disclose this information to the incoming owner. I feel the buyer will choose to handle this particular situation more ethically than the seller and current owner, my boss. I really like my boss and appreciate my job tremendously. I do not want to lose his trust regardless whether this sale goes through or not.

I feel the right thing to do is to make the buyer aware, however, if he questions this with my boss, there will be no question as to where the buyer got this information. Additionally, should this sale go through and the new owner discover this deliberate incorrect coding of positions and ask if I had knowledge of this, I would have to tell him the truth which in turn would destroy his trust with me.

I am praying for God to lead me to do the right thing. I guess I need to base this decision solely on what He would have me do rather than considering the consequence that I may lose all the way around in this situation.

Please advise.
