Post Christian husbands business ethics

I'm concerned about the business ethics of my husband. He's a musician (teaches in a college) but has side businesses writing music for different people and companies. He writes arrangements where he should get "permission" to do this, but doesn't, and says that those companies make enough money and shouldn't worry about him, and that WE need the money more than they do. And, has done other things that are definitely unethical before God, but since it's "business", and makes us money, he thinks it's okay. We keeps telling me, "But, WE need the money", and my opinion is, is that God will provide for us, in HIS ways, if He sees that we are being righteous and faithful with and IN what we are doing. (in all ways)
My husband is not good in business, period, and has made some terrible financial decisions that have put us in serious financial difficulty. But, I believe we wouldn't HAVE some of the difficulty we have, if my husband was more serious about how God sees his business ethics. Of course, my husband doesn't want to hear about this, because he doesn't think God will "just provide". (he's scared, and thinks if he doesn't do it, God isn't going to have it magically appear) So, I guess it's a real lack of faith.
I was just looking for some input on this, and hopefully some Godly business men here will tell me how THEY feel about God, ethics, and truthfulness.
